Re: Clarification on "aspect ratio" in pcb design

aspect ratio is concerned of The ratio of the circuit board thickness to the smallest hole diameter.

Minimizing the aspect ratio of the holes improves through hole plating quality and minimizes the chance of via failures

hi,
thanks for valuable answer.for example for below i mention same aspect ratio let me know which one is best

if the board thickness is 1.6mm and Min.drill size 0.8mm that aspect ratio is 2:1
like that 8:1 as well as 10:1 which one is the best
for manufacturing what is the standard for aspect ratio or minimum aspect ratio for manufacturing PCB ??

there is no minimum for aspect ratio, the question is what the maximum aspect ratio a fabrication house can achieve; in other word what will be the minimum drill size for a give PCB thickness..
one of the fabrication house capabilities is the maximum aspect ratio they can achieve: per example some of them can achieve 15:1 aspect ration
