I have a XXClone IDE Source volumn hdd & not the Target hdd that I removed from the original W3080 EMachine & attached it to my other 633IDS EMachine (upgraded to HP bio's 1.1 Ghz intel Celeron cpu) using a powered USB transfer cable to try & copy all the docs & favorites from it.
The reason I had to do this was the bootable Source volumn hdd would not boot & gave me a bio's message: (C:drive not found).
Went into bio's & made sure it was set to boot from the floppy & it was set correctly.
Had the QBD inserted as always.
It somehow took over the bio's chipset configurations on the 633IDS & wouldn't let me perform backups or floppy functions like performing the format for the floppy disks.
I had to perform a cold boot cause Windows would merely lockup (mouse etc).
Removed the cmos batt. & reinstalled it & it was back to normal.
I contacted XXClone support & they told me I would have to install XXClone to the 633 IDS machine & perform a clone to a clean formatted hdd & do a transfer that way.
I tried installing the drive on the IDE1 channel using the master & slave functions but did the same.
Does that sound like a correct way to retrieve all my data from it?
Need those docs & favorites as soon as possible so I can reformat the IDE 80 gig Seagate 7200 hdd & start with a fresh installation or WinXP.
Thanks for any tips.
David
