Windows + Ubuntu into VMware

hello my friends

i'm having an Ubuntu Linux version installed by VMware on my PC which has
Windows XP. i need to install VMware Tools through VMware. when i take that option
from VM--- Install VMware tool , a file having VMware tool appears into Ubuntu
version . I can't manipulate with this file .
the question is How to install VMware tool ?

u can get the tools @www.VMware.com

use root to login

find the menu VMware Tools Install

tar zxvf Vmware-Linux-tools.tar.gz to a tmp dir

type in ./Vmware-install.pl in the terminal

ok
