If there are two cell phones operating at the same frequency, like 800MHz and they are brought near each other, like one person is using it near their right ear to talk to someone and near their right side another person is using their cell phone near their left ear to talk to someone else, will there be interference?

When such interference happens, will the cell phone change it's frequencies to something else, like 820MHz or it will remain at 800MHz and keep causing interference to each other?

Are cell phones fixed to operate at predefined frequencies?

Hi,

It may change frequency in small percent steps ... or it may use another time slot at the same frequency.

Did you do an internet search?

Klaus

Two cell phones on the same frequency will be allocated different time slots so they should not interfere. Only one would transmit at a time. There is a control signal from the cell station that allocates the time slot so several (I think its 16) phones can share the same frequency simultaneously.

Yes, before asking here I did an Internet search but wasn't finding anything about they changing frequencies.

Thanks for this information.

What if they are using different providers and both use the same frequency.
