Wi-Fi Research Paper

I am currently working on a research paper on Wi-Fi for a course in Spread Spectrum communications. I'm looking for some good references which discuss the physical layer of 802.11 (any variation, b, g, etc) systems. Specifically I am interested in the spreading/PN code generation, modulation and error control techniques used. I've been having trouble finding good books or articles on the topic; has anyone come across some good references for such topics?
