Why is transmission loss so much greater on a cellular path compared to a LOS microwave path on the same frequency and covering the same distance? Thanks

Re: help

The transmitted power for microwave links are more than that for cell phones; the transmission losses for both will be the same for the same carrier frequencies; and microwave links use directional antennas with gain up to 15 dB where-as cell phones use omni-directional antennas with gains of no more that 2 dB
