Hi All ,

I wanted to know the reason behind the isolation provided at the boundary of the Power supply PCB .

1> Should it be Provided on both the layers of the 2 layer PCB ?
2> which is the better isolation Earth isolation or the Ground isolation ?

Regards !!

Not actually a clear question, I fear. It would be helpful, if you refer to a particular instrument design. "Isolation at the boundary" can mean a lot, e.g. reinforced isolation against SELV circuits required by safety standards. Also the difference between "Earth isolation or the Ground isolation" isn't obvious.

Actually i was looking PCB layout of some Power supply for PLC .

On the Boundry of the power supply PCB there was EARTH Isolation provided .
Just wanted to know the purpose behind that isolation .

Regards !!

By isolation i mean the Solid trace surrounding the PCB edges and that solid trace is connected to the EARTH point .

I don't think, that it's a relevant means related to a known safety standard. It may help to reduce EMI.
