Hello

Can anyone tell me which thd is good -60 dB OR -90 dB. because I have read in papers that the THD is given as negative like -52 dB THD but the comparision is given in positive like 52dB. We need low THD so is -50 dB a low THD or -60dB a low THD?

Thanx

Hi!

I start by saying I am not skilful with this matter but, I found this on the web:http://www.sengpielaudio.com/calculator-thd.htm
Making some test, I see that lower are the dBs, lower is the distortion.

So i think that -90dB is better than -60dB.

Do not absume my words as truth, but like an hypothesis.

Byeee!

-60dB is 0.1%. -90dB is 0.003%. Few people can hear 0.1% distortion in music but a sinewave sounds a little like a buzzer. Nobody can hear 0.01% or less.
At fairly low frequencies an OPA134 audio opamp has 0.00008% distortion. A TL071 audio opamp has 0.03% distortion. A 741 or LM358 ordinary old opamp has about about 3% distortion.
