which path to choose..

hi,i am pursuing my graduate degree(MS) in telecom(with a management option).
Since telecom is a broad subject,I wanted to have a knowledge of the different possible feilds in it and their respective opportunities.Also what are the emerging research and technologies in the respective feilds..

For example,i have an option of finally shaping my career towards
Network Security
IP telephony
Telecom Policies
Wireless Networks
etc.

i need some suggestions regarding the following feilds..ie emerging research + technologies..etc..and also any other possible specialisations for me.

May I suggest a field or career path that combines both Network Security
and VoIP. Security issues related to VoIp in the future are going to be a
HUGE issue and there should be a big demand for professionals with this
knowledge and expertise.

Hi,

I would say look for OFDM MIMO stuff. There is one area of research where very little work is done and that is MIMO wireless systems with feedback. It consists of information theory, digital communication and control theory.

MIMO Wireless is the popular area of research these days.

From my opinion , All-IP communication via wireless or wired is very important.Cause almost backbone of high-speed network rely on this(IP Convergence) and Network Security also interesting too.

In emerging research , ofcourse multicarrier techniqe as OFDM OFDMA that link with MIMO and Cross layer design are still hot research filed today.
