Linux with 2.4 cores, like RH7-8, FC1, etc. does not support the newest Intel chipsets, SATA, and some other newer hardware. Take this into account if you bought your PC just recently.
Then FC2 or 3 is the right choice.
i never looked back from suse 8,, now i'm running suse 9 and have no intention of changing,, fedora is quite good too,,, but for a "home pc" i'd say suse for ease of use,,
