I am planning to do some intensive research in Calculus. I don't need books that is full of problems (basically used for passing exams). I want to understand the concepts.

Thanks in advance.

There are several excellent texts covering the theory of Calculus:

Calculus, Vol. 1: One-Variable Calculus with an Introduction to Linear Algebra

Calculus, Vol. 2: Multi-Variable Calculus and Linear Algebra with Applications to Differential Equations and Probability (Volume 2)

Differential and Integral Calculus (2 Volume Set)

A First Course in Calculus

Calculus of Several Variables

Keep in mind the above texts are not beginners or introductory texts by any stretch of the imagination, they delve deep into the theory of Calculus and were written by some of the greatest mathematicians of recent times.

The follow text by Serge Lang is a very good summary of his more extensive texts:

Short Calculus

Another good book by Kenneth Ross:

Elementary Analysis: The Theory of Calculus
