nlint

I have use Novas nlint before , and think it is a good tools for design. A friend tell to me that lec is better than nlint, but i remember lec is formal tools ,who can tell me which nlint tools is more power.
Thanks!

nova nlint

Hi

As you may noticed with working on nlint, it does very comprehensive test (~about 200 tests). Therefore, it says always some errors or warnings in your design. Due to my experiences nlint from nova is a fine tool, specially for RTL (synthesizable) targeted man(and perhaps woman).

tnx

Hi xworld2008:

It's obviously you confused blacktie and lec!

As you know, lec is a formal tool from verplex(now cadence).

Blacktie is the lint tool from verplex.

nlint cadence

You can choice Nov@s nLint or Synop$ys LED@

spyglass compared to nlint

With I know, the LEDA of synopsys is a syntax checker.

Can anybody tell me the other function of this tool?

Thank you!

blacktie lec

According to my knowledge Spyglass is very best tool for RTL check.

Yes LEDA is just a syntax checker, and it is suit for synopsys's tool,

such as DC, VCS, FORMALITY. So if you use other EDA Company's tool,

other lint tool(e.g. nLint) will be better choice.

If you use build-in ability of simulate/syhthesis/formal tool, you will have

to modify your code again and again, but if we the lint tool we can modify

the code very few times. And the speed of lint tool is fast the

simulate/synthesis/formal tool. That's why we should use a standalone

lint tool.
