I am designing a simple circuit for my fishing boat that would allow me to switch between two batteries and several components (i.e I can use a fish finder on one while using the troll motor on another). I will be installing DC circuit breakers rather than fuses, but I am not too sure where to put them. Do I put them after the power source prior to the toggle switches or after the switches, just before the output device?

Thanks, Elias

Re: Fuse Location

Your best bet is to put them at the input of each load. That way the other loads will still function if one of them fails. It is also wise to put one at the output of the battery to guard against the wiring to the loads being shorted.
