Hi All,

I have designed (simulated it in ads using ideal components) a matching network which matches a 50ohm source to a complex load impedance R+jX (say input impedance of a transistor with R=150ohm, X=-6.4ohm) at 2.4GHz. I wish to develop a prototype to see if my matching network is working fine. To mimic the complex impedance I will use a load comprising of a resistor(150ohm) and capacitor(5nF).
My questions are as follows:
1. Where to buy these components. I visited this page: https://www.digikey.com/product-search/en/resistors/chip-resistor-surface-mount/65769, but there are lot of options ! Specifically, I am unsure as to what wattage/composition/features/temco/package will be adequate for my prototype. My only requirement is that as I have to report my design in a research paper, whatever I select should give me good result ! (Reference paper says they used SMD resistors/capacitors).

2. Is is possible to get some model of these components so that I include the same in my ADS momentum setup?

Pardon for this much long question considering it my second planning towards practical prototyping in RF/Microwave (the first one simply failed !).

Matching networks use generally low voltage, tight tolerance C0G type temperature compansated type capacitors.
For inductors, tight tolerance is preferred.
But we don't know your componenets' values and operating voltages, currents etc. Therefore I speak in general.
There might be some special applications such as high voltage, high current, etc.
I personally prefer to use Murata inductors and capacitors on my low power matching and resonating circuits. They are cheaper and almost available everywhere
For 2.4GHz, 0402 package C0G series ( for capacitors) would be good choice..
At Murata..

GRM0225 series for capacitors..
LQP02TN series for inductors

You can download Murata DK for ADS from their website. It includes all models of caps and inductors.

Hi,
Thanks for your previous comment. I need some more clarifications. Suppose my target is to build my matching circuit to be used with Amplifier discussed in **broken link removed**. So you know power levels and everything.
My components values: Two Resistors of 100 ohm and 150 ohm. one capacitor of 5nF. Besides, now I also need 10pF and 20pF capacitor for some other design (Freq 2.5GHz).
Kindly guide me how to choose them.

(Taking idea from here, later I will also use such capacitors in some 'reduced' sized coupler) .
