1. I have a not gate of TTL logic it has 20ns delay to the input i have given the square wave of 5nsec what will be the output. will the output be the square wave since the delayof the logic is more than the freq of operation will the not gate work? and if it works upto what freq it can work...... for the same question what will be the output if the input is a sine wave instead of square wave.

Simple not gate has 20ns delay what the max frequency the not logic works.

2. for a single Dff (with D as input and Q as outpu and Clk as clock in) what will be the max Freqency it can operate.... (does it depend on TClk to Q delay only or in the Tsetup also but we are doing it for only one FF)

Thanks & Regards

For a single D-FF Tsetup will not come in the max frequency. If D-FF is used in a register or any other seq ckt with other combo logic then Tsetup will come in to the picture along with TclktoQ delay for Max freq calculation.

for the max clock frequency, you should consider the setup time! in the mean timing, you should check whether there are some hold time violation!
