Hello,

1. What main characteristics should be considered when selecting an ADC and what is the relevance of each parameter?

2. Can you give a summary of two different ADC architectures including how they operate and the type of application to which they are suitable?

Thank you

ADC selection

Better solution is to begin with a good text book.

ADC selection

Hi Dawnlo,

You should do some research as explaining these over here could be quite difficult. But to answer your question, I guess the main considerations are required ADC resolution and maybe conversion time(more critical when it is an internal ADC module of a microcontroller, less important), and also the interface (serial I2C/TWI, SPI, parallel, etc).

You can start from:

Hope this helps.
Tahmid.

Re: ADC selection

Dawnlo,
ADC selection is a complex subject. The following articles should get you started:

Google "Bonnie Baker" ADC. She has many short articles on various aspects of ADC selection.
