hello

What is the benefit of optocoupler in The PS2 SMPS ?

Re: Switching Mode Power

The benefit of using an optocoupler is that it allows the systems on one side electrically isolated since the signal goes from an electrical signal to an optical signal back to an electrical signal, electrical contact along the path is broken.

Having electrical isolation is sometimes a requirement in the design of switch mode power supply applications.

Best regards,

Re: Switching Mode Power

Such as v_c's post, optocoupler can realize electrical isolation from one side to other side.
