If anyone who is familar with finger and waffle type gate array structure,
plz inform about their advantages and disadvantages.

If you are using Cadence OPUS (layout tool), finger type gate has several poly
with one large active(diffusion), however Waffle type has one large poly with many rectangle diffusion squares. Each rectangle is either source or drain.

If you want to hear about more description, I will probably draw the layout and post again. I really want to know the difference in Ron(resistance) between these two device layouts. Thank you

Re: What is the advantage & disadvantages between finger

ya please draw or upload related docs.
i want to know finger and waffle type for layout in dtail

Waffle structure makes it slightly difficult to model them and subsequent simulation but its used in digital because inaccuracies in W/L is not too critical as seen in analog. Advantage: space savings...

Fingers are good as they relate to the model very closely, however you loose space.
