What is MEMS Gyroscope?

The MEMS gyroscope uses the Coriolis force to measure the angular velocity and is implemented using the MEMS process, generally using comb capacitor electrostatic drive mass vibration, the angular velocity brings the displacement of the mass block in another direction, and the capacitor is used to detect the displacement to calculate the angular velocity. MEMS gyroscopes are basically resonant gyroscopes. The main components include a support frame, a resonant mass block, and an excitation and measurement unit. The working mode is divided into a driving mode and a detection mode. The working status, stable control and subsequent signal processing of both modes need to be realized through peripheral circuits. Electrostatic driving is the driving method currently used by most MEMS gyroscopes. The detection methods include electromagnetic detection, capacitance detection, piezoelectric detection and piezoelectric detection. resistance detection, etc.

Zero bias is the main core indicator of the performance of gyroscope. It is used to measure the gyroscope during a working cycle. When the input angle rate is zero, the output value of the gyroscope revolves around its average, smaller numbers indicates high performance.

According to different indicators, gyroscopes are divided into consumer grade, tactical grade, navigation grade, and strategic grade. Currently, MEMS gyroscopes can reach navigation grade accuracy.

MEMS gyroscopes have been widely used in the field of consumer electronics due to their small size, light weight, low power consumption, low cost and many other advantages. With technological advancement, high-precision MEMS gyroscopes are widely used in industry, commercial aerospace, and commercial ships. There is considerable room for improvement in the penetration rate of navigation and weapons and equipment fields. With the advancement of technology, there is great room for improvement in the penetration rate of high-precision MEMS gyroscopes in the fields of industry, commercial aerospace, commercial ship navigation, and weapons and equipment.
