Re: Running Disparity

Running Disparity is a technique used in digital communication in order to maintain a DC balance in digital transmissions. For example; if there are too many ones bunched together in the data stream, then, zero's are added to the data and visa-versa. What this does is that, in average, the number of ones are equal to number of zeros in a transmission stream. A DC balanced signal is more immune to noise and is easier to recover at the end of the line.
Search the web for 802.3, PAM5, 8B/10B specs. All these standards use DC balancing.
