differences between cat3 cat5 cat4 cat6

what is the 10basT cable and how is it different from other 10base2 10base5
and what are CAT3 CAT5 cables..
is there any CAT4 cable?
can anybody suggest a good link

Below are a couple of links that will define the terms for you. Note that the difference between 10baseT and 100baseT is in the maximum data speed that can be handled. Slowly coming into use is the even faster 1000baseT (1Ghz) network standard.

As you will see in the below links, there is a Category 4 (Cat4) cable that fits in speed capability between Cat3 and Cat5 as you might expect.

and CAT6?

CAT-3 can go up to 10 Mbps (10-base-t)
CAT-5 can go up to 100 Mbps (100-base-t)
CAT-5e is still 100Mbps but with higher reliability
CAT-6 can go up to 1000 Mbps (1000-base-t)

The link below gives a description of the Cat 6 standard. It has been slow to gain ground because of the large installed base of Cat5 and Cat5E systems. Gigabit systems are nice to talk and dream about, but most industrial users haven't seen the need to go that high for the normal business uses of data retrieval, email, word processing, etc.
