What does "Zero-IF" mean which is usually seen in the tuner designs?

zero if is the process of homodyning... here we bring the signal to its baseband directly without the usage of a intermediate frequency...

This requires two mixers with their LO signals at 90 degrees apart. This method is commonly done when DSP is used to demodulate the signal.
