What circuit would I need to use a pressure sensor as a switch?

Do I need a comparator or a Schmidt trigger for this?

I have a lot of bipolar transistors. Can I use simple transistor switches for this purpose?

I would like to make a circuit with an adjustment knob to adjust how much pressure it will take to open/close the load circuit.
Is this possible? How?

Refers to a comparator with variable reference voltage. I hope you can imagine it. Schmitt-trigger (comparator with hysteresis) is mostly wanted to have a clear on or off output. Without hysteresis, intermediate output signals, unwanted for a switch would occur.

I got another question related to my design:
If there is a material that has a surface resistivity and a volume resistivity,

How do I find a resistance across a rectangle that is 10mmX10mmX{material sheet thickness mm}. I need to find resistance between the surfaces that were not cut (the 10mmX10mm surfaces).

At this point I am not concerned if the material is compressed or not.
