Hi all,
I just got a pick-place machine with built-in computer that wants Altium/Protel99 pick-place csv files to use for converting into it's own 'work file'.
I don't have those programs.
I have a wonderful old Protel PCB2.8 that 'isn't broken'.
I can write a program to convert it's 'pik' files - but I kinda need to know what to shoot for.
A small 'dozen part' PCB pick-place file to use as an example for 'what column gets what' would be of great help.
OR - just tell me. ;-)
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
The pick and place file for usually should contain:
I. Designator.
II. Some designator which store information about package (what kind of component is this, dimension like height, width, length). It depends on the program requirements.
III. Dasignator y, x (mm or mils)
IV. Rotation
IV. Layer (it is not necessary for most of machines). It is important for You to know which components belong to which layer.
Hope I help You.
