hi
i want to turn on/off a device at specific time ..

i have electricity generator .. i want to tell it a schedule when to turn on and when to turn off .. the generator starts generating electricity by turning the key in its switch .. and when i want to turn it off i just need to rotate it backwards to its reset position .. just like the ignition switch of motorcycles etc..
as the time be feed at compile time it wont need changing/setting it during its operation .. so this will reduce the circuite copmlexity because the need for input is reduced and also i am not interested in it showing me something on lcd so lcd interfacing is not any needed as well .. ..
so as soon as that time is reached it would turn on the device and as the time expires it would turn it off ..

it should be doing this forever .. and in case of change of the time schedule i will change the time in the code and recompile and re burn the image ..

so what is the best option for me ?

any controller and pic that has builtin clock facility so i set its time etc ..

or any other cheap alternative way ?

thanks

You could use a 555 timer, that's about as cheap as you can get.

Download the datasheet of this IC and check its features. It is a good and cheap timer IC.
