Hi ,

I need some documents/reference on how to validate protocols like I2C . I am already aware of these protocols and have used them in many projects of my own . But i want a view on how to validate the protocol along with the parameters which can be validated .

Thnks in advance

Not clear the exact need.
Do you want check if certain device product meet to I2C slave specifications ?

I try to read a sense into the title "validating a protocol". "Validation" means proving that a product fulfills the intended purpose. But the I2C protocol has been designed long ago and is fully specified. You neither need to validate nor verify "the protocol". You probably may want to verify the correctness of a specific protocol implementation. For a distinction of terms, see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Verification_and_validation

probe your device, check whether you get clock and signal according to your requirements.

apologies for a delay in reply . I am involved in developing custom IP's like that of I2C . Now i need to develop test case for these protocols so that we can verify the functional and behavioral aspects of our IP . I am just looking out for the validation / test flow for I2c so that i can build a similar for few of the other Ip's.
