Hey Guys,

I seriously know next to nothing about electronics so I am turning to you for help with a school project. I need to know if something like this

USB Relay Controller One Channel - RS232 Serial controlled PCB

will allow me to control a simple box fan from my computer. I understand that programming will be involved and I am pretty sure I can handle that side of things. I am just stuck on the hardware implications and whether or not I will inadvertently start a fire.

I sincerely appreciate all help offered.

dont worry. you will not fire anything.
but you have not specified the spec of the box fan to control.

Thanks for a quick reply srizbf.

The specs on the bottom of the box fan I am thinking of using are 120 V 0.8A 60Hz

the fan spec is very well within that can controlled by the usb controller.

you can start testing your idea with the controller.
