Hi,
I wanted to know if the TTL to USB cable like the one in the link shown below can be replaced by a MAX3232 level converter circuit and a RS232 to USB cable.

The MAX3232 converts TTL to RS232 and then I have the RS232 to USB.

But i wanted to know if both cables transmit the same data at the USB end.

Basically i want to transmit data from the MCU to PC and one of the projects I am following from a website uses the TTL to USB. If i replace it by the setup I had said above will it work or not...Even if some problem might arise then plz. let me know...

Please let me know...

USB FTDI TTL-232 cable [TTL-232R 3.3V] ID: 70 - $20.00 : Adafruit Industries, Unique & fun DIY electronics and kits

I dont think MAX3232 will allow you to connect to USB directly. So far, I have seen people using FTDI as well as microController to do it. =)

Yes is not problem to convert like this :MCU -232 - 232/USB -PC usb port

The MAX3232 converts the TTL to RS232 logic...I connect the 3 pins on the RS232 side of the converter(the Txd, Rxd,Gnd)
The other end of the converter, i.e USB end is connected to the PC.

Please let me know if this will produce the same output as the FTDI TTL to 232 cable.

I am not getting the proper output in my project so wanted to check if it was because of this.

thanks!
