i have an idea about a couple different things. if a lifting electromagnet w/ power to lift 500 lbs was placed next to another said e-magnet both on they would generate a pushing force equivelent to 1000 lbs? 2nd isn't this somewhat how a monorail works?

thanks

When you are thinking about lifting power it is scalar. The true is that lifting force is not power, it is vector. If you provide appropriate vector matching for two such magnets, you probably get almost twice lifting force. Good luck with these calculations!

Best regards
