Hello tjalps
In automotive enviroment you have to protect your circuits aganist:
Double battery start
Reverse polarity
Some 60-80V several miliseconds pulses
Some 400V several microseconds pulses
I remember an old app note from National Semiconductor, showing test procedures for automotive electronics. I'll try to find it.
Edited:
App Note not found!
Intel Microcontroller Handbook (1985!) Has a note with some basic info.
"Using microcontroller systems for electrically noisy enviroments"
