Which of these two popular DSP makers has the better design environment for newbie developers?

I would say Code composer studio has an edge over VDSP. VDSP gives an RTOS free... if you weigh that.....

I dont know abt Analog Devices
but have worked with TI processors using Code Composer Studio IDE
and found it quite user friendly

There are few terms in comparing Platforms. I think in terms of power consumption TI is far better than ADI. Theprocessors like C55 of TI are good. ADi i still in a process to optimize the power. But surely ADI has better support and other interfaces. Pther tems is the software packages....ADi optimizer is far better then TI's. there are more thing.

each has its own pros. CCS is much better compared to its ad equivalent (as i've heard from experts), i've only used CCS not visual dsp

what i've liked is the knowledgebase in TI site, aswell as the online training.

i'd say just jump into what ever resource u get. dun get affected by these posts. some day u'll fill a reply for this post. (which ever tool u're more exposed to, u'll feel that easy)
