Sounding the Channel.

Can anyone explain to me briefly about the sounding the channel.? Thank you

Sounding the Channel.

You find the impulse responses of the wireless chnnel. They actully do it by senting the PN code into the channel since you cannot sent the impluse. THe results, you will get something called, delay spread, BY taking FFT of this delay spread, you can determine the coherent bandwidth

there are several methods of sounding I attach a part of an assignment of mine on sounding whidc refers to the methods and some papers about wideband chanellsounding.I hope there are useful

i was reffering to Wireless Communication by Theodore Rappaport. I use this textbook for Personal and Mobile Communication. I'm doing master in telecommunication engineering. i'm from computer engineering. Do u think i should get a Digital Communication book by Proakis.?

Yes definetely.Proakis book is a bible for digital comms. As rappaport's book also is.

Anyone knows advantages and disadvantages of Direct RF pulse measurement.

can i use this method for ranges of 6-8 km.
