Temperature coefficient

Hi ,
I have a controller based temperature and conductivity measuring equipment, in that equipment there is a one opton for setting parameter(P1): Temperature coefficient, the range between 0.00 to 4.00%/C(it is programmable),at present i am not mush more aware about hardware concepts, so

can anyone tell me, what is mean by temperature coefficient,and what is the use of setting the temperature coefficient vlaue in that equipment.

this may be related to calibration of particular temperature sensor. For example if the readings are linear, but the sensor has some deviation from the line slope you can adjust this error by setting some coefficient. Then every reading will be multiplied by this amount to correct existing error.

Note: this is just my guess, you should read the equipment documentation or contact the manufacturer for proper explanation.
