[Synthesis] Cells cloning - why to clone? why not just to insert buffers?

Hi All,

One of the well-known techniques to reduce a transition time over the cells due to high fanout, is to clone the logic (typically driving flops). So, why to clone the logic/flops instead of insertion the strong buffers? What pros and cons in each one of the techniques?
