how to design pcb for step-down converter IC with 500kHz switching frequency?schottky diode, power inductor, output capasitors placement etc???

Hi,

You can go through the routing guidelines in the data sheet of the IC you had mentioned earlier, also google with proper string, you might get tons of it.

Please go through this website, this site has lots of information your looking for.....https://www.epanorama.net/links/psu.html

Hope this helps you.

Regards

Ramesh

Make sure that the diode is as close to the IC as you can get, that it's return path is straight back to the IC, the inductor next, as close as possible.
Then the cap needs to be close & take the output from the cap pads not from any trace from the inductor that leads upto the cap.
