can anyone help me about designing a circuit using this element?
i need a circuitry for supplying voltage to a microcontroller unit that needs an input voltage of 5 v.
thanks.
God bless us.

it is very simple,

uou must have a DC power whit 7.5V at list and put it on the pin 1 of the 7805 the pin 2 you put it on GND so the pin 3 you have the regulated 5V supply.

you can use one capacitor in the pin 1 to GND and another in the pin 3 to GND, about 100nf is ok.

but remember that you need a DC POWER in the input, so if you are using a transformer you need a rectifier bridge and an filter capacitor ( about 1000uF).

good look.

Have a look at the datasheet of LM7805 which contains all the relevant details with application circuits too.
Cheers

ahh.. thanks alot!.

but my problem now is that how can i calculate the value of capacitor if i would also tap, on the same rectifier bridge output, an lm7812 and lm7808?

and i have another question,
what could be the current going through each of the 3 LMs if they are connected in the same rectifier bridge output?

thanks a lot guys!
God bless us all.
