I bought these stack-on plastic container organizers from k-mart to put my electronics in. I realize now that they produce a good amount of static electricity if rubbed or with temperature changes.

I'm assuming that this is a bad idea to store ICs in. Is there something I can do to eliminate the static so that I can store static sensitive devices in it?

Re: Storing electronics in a static heavy plastic container

well, i htink that if you make sure all ypur devices are in stactic safe bags, tehre is no problem. Modt of the static bag (like #m and others) are made of a plastic wich is hard to remove the eletrons ( i'm not a plastic material specialist but it makes senses to me ) with some metalized cover...

Lets imagine the plastic bag is like a faraday shield, it there is some static it easiest to this energy by dissipated around the plastic...

Well, in my company, the warehouse are kept thsis way: non-static plastic container -> non-static plasic bag -> smd rool and tape with under vacum...
