Eg. can a 230v/ 12v SMPS transformer used in reverse (assuming that the same switching frequency is used) to get 12v stepped up to 230v? as anyone try it out? Thanks.

The 2 high voltage windings i have put in series. But i only got 100 Volts out of it....

Some psu output use half-wave rectification. radujp: You got a point there. May be we have to double the pri. voltage. Thanks for you response.
