Hi All,

I had a confusion regarding the below information during PCB stackup.

0.020", Er = 4.8, FR4 1oz/1oz

My question is, what is 1oz/1oz?
Is it 1oz on top layer and 1oz on bottom layer ?

Please share your advise
Thanks

Hi,

1oz/1oz is about copper weight on top and bottom layer.
it means the PCB manufacturer will use core thickness 0.020" with both sides copper weight 1/1oz to build boards.

I assume it is a multilayer PCB ,right ?

Hi Louis,

Yes, it is a 2-layer board.
So, correct me if I am wrong; the total thickness of the 2 layer PCB will be as follows:
top layer -> 1oz copper (0.035mm)
core --> 0.020" (0.508mm)
bottom layer -> 1oz Copper(0.035mm)
total thickness = 0.578 mm.
Therefore, during manufacturing, I should select the PCB thickness as 0.6mm, is this correct?

Thanks,
Mahruz

Hi Mahruz,

Thank you for your reply !
If you can let me know what PCB final thickness you defined and what final copper thickness you defined for both sides, I can give your the right answer based on the information your PCB fabricator suggested .

Louis,
Regards
