I need develop a system to monitoring the sound, and detect sounds like hands clapping or guns fire. I need connection to a pc, for monitoring.

what is the best way to do this? maybe a DSP? or some type of digital filter?

can someone show me some links? or schemes :p

the first step is to acquir the sound. u can do it by connecting the micro to your sound card and read samples of the sound continously.
the second step which is mor complecated is to identify the desired sound. for this step u must use some of digital signal processing algorithms, for example u can use the algorithmes of speech recognition

as u have said u need to monitor on the system .u can directly use matlab...it has got this kind of tool..
