I am designing a FPGA board and I plan to use DDR4 memory. What is the cons and pros of using sodimm vs discrete memory for FPGA.
The FPGA of my board is Kintex ultrascale.

I guess if you use SODIMM module, then PCB routing from the FPGA pins to the SODIMM are easier than if the DDR4 chips are separately placed. You can also easily remove a SODIMM based module.

But I am not confident on this answer of mine, you can also ask this question to the PCB group.
