SMPS and hard disk detection

Hello on my pc i have two hard disks.In the cold season when i start the pc i get lot of noise from the power supply smps ( fan). After the win is loaded that noise goes away but the my computer shows only one hard disk. After restarting that noise goes away and both the discs are shown in My computer. what can cause this?
I am a music MIDI programmer and i require both discs to work with alternatively

This sounds like an important clue.

How old is the misbehaving disk? There is a chance its motor is getting tired, or its bearings are sluggish. Temperature can affect this. It takes extra time to run smoothly after start-up. If that is the case then it is due to fail before long and should be replaced.

Or, the power supply may be under-spec. It may be able to get one disk running when cold. Once it heats up a little, both disks get sufficient power. You can test the power supply by disconnecting one disk at a time.

Can you pause the start-up sequence for a while? Ways to do this: Press the button that opens the BIOS, or press F8 which allows you to choose the operating system.

Hello The noise which was coming was from the fan near the hard disk . Still both the hard disks are working fine with 100% efficiency as given by the hard disc sentinel. I will try to switch off the fan and try this. Thanks for the suggetion.
