Hello,
For i used an ANTEX 17W soldering iron with 0,1mm pan. It's works well.
I test an another solution with hot air soldering and soldering paste (very expensive). For that I used a gas soldering with hot air buse from ANTEX.
The result feels good.
Not always is better pointedly tip. Somewhere in Elektroda is a link to GB site where was described SMD soldering technique.
If you solder SMD components with e.g. 0,5mm pitch is most better do not solder each pin separate but more pins at the same time by sideways moving of the plane (flat) tip. The pads must be tinned before.
1. tin plate the pads
2. solder outer pins to fix IC
3. apply liquid (jelly) flux
4. solder....
With this procedure we solder hundreds of TSOP 0,5mm packages with
a Diametral cheapest iron which costed about 60 USD (www.diametral.cz/english/e_index.html). This solder we use for everything...
We have Ersa and Weller irons too and we do not find any real differences between them. As Ersa as Weller costed about 190USD.
Here is the attachment......
i dont know what happened......i had attached the file ,but it got lost i dont know how....
any way i am again uploading it.....
For soldering SMD u can soldering all pin with much solder paste and after
remove exceded solder paste with a desoldering pump.
Working right, with fine pitch too, but u need of a solder layer (usually green).
