how can help me to undrestand "Single Photon Detection" and "its application in telecommunication"

i find no community betwen single photon detection an telekommunikation.

a single photon you can dedect with a photomultiplier

in all telekommunikations LWL there are more than one photons.

If you search the Internet for articles on quantum communication, you may come to understand the utility of single photon detectors.
