Is there is simple smps or a high current, voltage doubler circuit which can be used to power high power audio amplifier from the 12v car battery?

I have seen the in forums that the 12v Car battery cannot directly run high wattage audio amps.

I have also seen some high power class D audio IC in the Phillips NXP sites which can be run by 12volts car battery, but again these ICs are not easy to incorporate in designing amplifiers by a novice and also Is it true?

You can't have DC-DC converter without a choke, period.
