if you want construct yourself check:
ftd232 chip datasheet.
they also supply software libs reqd.

if you are going to buy readymade many such adapters are avilabe.

Hi,
I had a bad experience with that since I lost 2 FT232 (expensive) to buit my converter. A ready made USB to 232 converter make you save money and time.
