I need a little help. I'm building a morse code device with a buzzer (6V) and an LED (3V, .02A). I want to connect both in series to a 6V battery.

Do I connect the buzzer directly to the + (red? black?) of the battery and then connect the - to a resistor (150ohm) (gold band) and then to the LED and then back to the battery?

Does the buzzer take away any of the voltage/current and do I need a different calculation for the resistor?

Thanks

1) The supply is 6V, the LED will drop 3V, so there is 3V left,
Will the buzzer still work with 3V ?

2) The maximum current through the LED is 20mA,
Will the buzzer still work with 20mA at 3V ?

what you should do is wire the buzzer + (LED & resistor) in parallel

the buzzer will work directly off the 6V,

The LED requires the resistor in series, and 150Ohm is about right, (150x0.020)=3V, so drops half the battery voltage to the 3V the LED needs.

Good luck

Thanks xaccto...exactly what I was looking for.
