Hi..
I am working on a project in which i want to transfer 1 MB of data between two SIM900 GSM modems.
I heard about the GPRS and I also heard about the CSD Call(Data Call).
I want to do it by making data call (CSD Call) as the facility provided by the GSM modem!

I an finding difficulty in making Data Call service available to the SIM cards i have. The network providers reply as they even don't know about this facility!
So I was wondering if there is any other terminology or keyword that to be used?

I am using SIM900 GSM modem.
I am located in Los Angeles, California, USA.

Please reply me as soon as possible!

Found this thread via search engine. I want to know if anyone successful tried to exchange data between two SIM900 via CSD call. I know that download rate might be very low (9.6kb/s), but I don't care for my 1-2mb files. I asks myself the exact same question as the original poster. Any advice would be great.
Looks like my current provider, Rogers in Canada, doesn't support CSD call.

GSM MODEM AS DIAL OUT
LAND LINE MODEM AS DIAL IN
ATDNumber = No Carrier
ATDNumber; = Successful voice call, but the LAND LINE modem ins't able to process the call (USB USR), so a No Carrier is sent.

GSM MODEM AS DIAL OUT
GSM MODEM AS DIAL IN
ATDNumber = No Carrier
ATDNumber; = Successful voice cal

LAND LINE MODEM AS DIAL OUT
GSM MODEM AS DIAL IN
ATDNumber = No Carrier
ATDNumber; = VOICE NOT SUPPORTED

After reading quite some posts, I understand that if my carrier would have support CSD call, a simple ATDnumber (without ; ) would have set a data call with the other SIM900. I also bought 2 USR land line modem. I tested it with 2 BELL land line. After ATDnumber, the modems where able to communicate easily (send text and files through minicom). Anyone tried somewhere CSD call are still supported?
