sensors for gas identification??

i'm doing project on identifying the pollutant gases and measuring amount produce for certain time. so in first phase...i need what kind of sensors are used for gas identification and measuring amount of gas produces...and keeping the database of pollutant produce and using it to level the industries for different danger level...
plz help mee

Which gas would you like to sense?
There are different sensors for different gases ..
For example, if you are after CO² here is an example:

i need for pollutant gases like ... sulphur dioxide or carbon monoxide...is it possible to identify them and measure their amount...??
