The frequency of 555 is defined by the RC network between pins 7 ,6 and
2 ,not by the output you can calculate it usin the 555 datasheet. On pin 2 or 6 (they are tied together in selfoscilating aplication) you can use a saw tooth wave but you have to buffer it with emmiter follower for example in order not to disturb the 555 generator.
